CHEST

The chest can be measured from the front or the back, based on personal preference. Place the tape around the most substantial part of your chest, usually just below the arms. Make sure to get the full chest and shoulder blades included under the tape. The tape should be snug to get the “skin” measurement.

ABDOMEN

The abdomen measurements is different from a pant waist measurement. Place the tape around the most considerable part of the belly to get the abdomen measurement, often a bit higher than the natural waist.

YOKE

Yoke (Shoulder point-to-point): This is a critical measurement. It sets up the “hanger” from which the garment will drape. A slimmer silhouette requires a tighter yoke measurement. A shirt yoke is measured from the top of one shoulder, across, to the top of the other. If you measure from the outside shoulder point (like you would for a jacket), you will get a drop shoulder.

SLEEVE

Sleeve (measured from centre back): It is easiest to measure sleeve length immediately after the yoke. To find the centre back, keep your finger on the shoulder point and slide the tape to half of the yoke measurement.

From centre back, run the tape across the shoulder, down the arm and around to the back of the elbow. Holding the tape at the elbow with your finger, continue running the tape down the wrist, to the desired length.

SEAT

Measure your hip line, just around the pelvic area, where the shirt’s side hemline will hit. There is no need to include the fullest lower part of the seat if your proportions look standard.

WRIST

Keep one finger under the tape to allow a bit of ease while measuring the wrists. Lift the sleeve to expose the wrist and wrap the tape around the wrist. Make sure it feels comfortable. We will add allowances for cuff overlap.

If you wear a large watch, you can consider adding 1/2″ to that wrist measurement for extra ease.

BACK LENGTH

The shirt length is measured from the back. Starting at the centre back neck, run down the tape down to the bottom of the seat. If you require a shorter length, please be cautious and keep in mind that the shirt tail is scalloped and always shorter at the sided.
